Luxury retreat emphasises Kangaroo Island is still open for business

Luxury retreat emphasises Kangaroo Island is still open for business
February 4, 2020

Following recent bushfires, the luxury boutique retreat Sea Dragon Lodge, is emphasising that Kangaroo Island is still fully operational and needs tourism support.

Despite the bushfires on the western end of Kangaroo Island, the eastern end remains untouched. However, the Island’s continued survival depends on tourism. Since the fires, businesses on Kangaroo Island have experienced a massive drop off in visitation and are suffering.

Steve and Gail Lane of Sea Dragon Lodge are staunch advocates of community, business and wildlife on Kangaroo Island.

Steve Lane advises "95% of the Island's businesses are fully operational and we need tourism to continue to ensure the livelihood of Kangaroo Island's residents.

“At the moment visitation on the Island is way down, businesses are really hurting. If we don’t get people here in the next few months supporting these businesses there is a high chance they are going to disappear, which will really spoil the tourism experience that Kanfaroo Island has to offer.”

Nearby attractions that are still open for business include - Seal Bay, Raptor Domain, Parndana Wildlife Park, Chapman River, Lashmar Conservation Area, Rob’s Sheepdogs, local breweries, wineries, honey farms and Sea Dragon Lodge.

When Lane was asked what Australians can do to support Kangaroo Island, he provided his first hand insights noting “the future of Kangaroo Island rests on the support of local and international tourism, Kangaroo Island has already lost so much, we need to band together to survive.”

Sea Dragon Lodge and Villas is a boutique luxury retreat located on Kangaroo Island set in a secluded bushland boasting spectacular coastal views, wildlife at the doorstep and a beautiful private beach. For more information on the retreat go to https://www.seadragonlodge.com.au
