Ticketmaster Australia selects 10 local artists predicted for success in 2020
February 8, 2020

Ticketmaster Australia has handpicked the 10 local artists predicted to make a significant impact on the live scene in 2020. The New for 2020 list is a celebration of Ticketmaster’s passion and commitment to supporting home-grown Australian talent.

Ticketmaster Australia’s New For 2020 includes:
A.Girl
DREGG
Elizabeth
Jamo
Miiesha
Pinkish Blu
Pink Matter
Spacey Jane
Stevan
Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers

Last year, the team tipped the likes of A Swayze and the Ghosts, Bugs, Kian, Kaiit, Kwame, and Ruby Fields.

Jon Halperin (who manages DREGG) advises "Adam and myself at LaRue Management were thrilled to have DREGG chosen as one of the artists for New for 2020. The fact that the largest ticketing company in the world would take notice of a local Melbourne new wave hardcore act shows that the company is interested in incubating local talent and working with them to get to the next level."

Gloria Brancatisano, Ticketmaster’s Content Manager and New Music Champion notes “our teams across the world have their ears to the ground and their fingers on the pulse when it comes to who is the next big thing. Ticketmaster’s New For 2020 is all about giving these artists a leg-up in what is a hugely competitive industry and we can’t wait to see where they play next.

“From artists like Miiesha, who is from a town of less than 1000 people and making incredible music that the country needs to hear, to bandroom sellouts Spacey Jane and Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers, all the artists in our list are ready to take their careers to the next level.”

Ticketmaster New Music – and New For 2020 – is a global initiative with every country highlighting their own local artists.

Ticketmaster’s New For 2020 List:

A.Girl: Western Sydney musician Hinenui-Terangi Tairua effortlessly blending the worlds of hip hop, R&B, and pop music. In 2019 she joined Aussie hip hop honcho Briggs on his Beats 1 radio show The New Australia, and played the Sydney leg of Listen Out Festival and Brisbane’s Bigsound.

DREGG: Melbourne new wave hardcore band calling fans to channel their inner weirdos. Their thought-provoking lyrics and tongue-in-cheek take on the current state of the world has seen them support Hellions, Deez Nuts, and soon Download Festival.

Elizabeth: Former singer of Melbourne band Totally Mild, her debut solo album has earned her the title of  patron saint of sad girls.

Jamo: Mornington producer and multi-instrumentalist who channels the sand and ocean of his home to create  sun-drenched beats and infectious melodies.

Miiesha: A strong, proud Pitjantjatjara/Torres Strait Islander woman inspired by the sounds of R&B, gospel and soul. She’s already supported the likes of Baker Boy, Briggs, Adrian Eagle and Thelma Plum as well as performing at Vanfest, Falls Festival, Party In The Paddock, and soon Laneway Festival.

Pinkish Blu: Adelaide sad-pop band using ‘80s synth pop grooves and alt-rock guitar lines to revive the sad banger. Channelling The 1975 and M83, they’ve shared stages with the likes of WAAX, Skeggs, The Rubens, Last Dinosaurs, Trophy Eyes, Kingswood, G Flip and more, as well as gracing the stages of Bigsound and Groovin The Moo.

Pink Matter:  Forward-thinking neo-soul four-piece from Brisbane who have played Bigsound, Laneway Festival, and the NLMAs, supported Mildlife, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Harvey Sutherland (who also produced their single ‘Wonder’) and The Internet.

Spacey Jane: Freo garage pop outfit who recently sold-out their entire run of national headline shows, and are soon to add an appearance at Laneway Festival to their merits. Expect catchy melodies and gritty guitar lines.

Stevan: Multi-talented producer, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist creating woozy, dreamlike pop out of Wollongong. A completely self-taught musician.

Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers: Canberra girl gang taking inspiration from your favourite 90’s grunge bands while injecting their songs with a healthy dose of pop flair and unstoppable energy. Recently they’ve made the rounds of our festival calendar, with slots at Lost Paradise, Spilt Milk, Stonefest, Groovin’ The Moo, Bigsound, and Laneway Festival all under their belts.
