read moreA $1 million Lotterywest grant has enabled the City of Swan to deliver additional features to the Midvale Skate Park including a pump track and skate bowl. Prior to receiving the Lotterywest grant, the City had allocated $850,000 to build the skate park, including obstacles and terrain determined through community consultation.
The City has worked closely with the community on the concept and design for the new recreation space, which was conceived in response to community desire for a local skate park in the Midland area.
Western Australia Minister for Police and Road Safety Michelle Roberts enthused “this will provide a brilliant facility close to home for local youth. We need all kinds of opportunities for young people to make friends and enjoy themselves.
“Whilst facilities for playing team sports like football and cricket are essential, so too are spaces for casual recreation and exercise.
“I’m delighted as the local MP to be able to present the City of Swan with a Lotteries grant of $1million towards a skate park that I’m sure will be extremely popular with local youths and families.”
City of Swan Mayor Kevin Bailey advised “our newest youth and recreation space will be located outside the front of Swan Active Midland, creating a vibrant precinct for active young people.
“Thanks to Lotterywest, we can deliver on the community’s vision for a high-quality skate park and pump track.”
