read moreTicketek New Zealand is set to offer consumers the option to ‘buy now pay later’ for tickets via Afterpay, the global financial technology services provider.
The move follows closely in the footsteps of Ticketek Australia, which became the world’s first ticketing platform to offer the service earlier this month with the Afterpay service givings fans the option to pay for their tickets in four equal fortnightly instalments after securing their seats with the first payment.
From next Tuesday (4th August), Afterpay will be integrated into the ticketek.co.nz website and apps as a payment option to coincide with the pre-sale of Duco’s Synthony 2020. Afterpay will give fans the choice to pay for their tickets in four equal fortnightly instalments and secure their seats with the first payment.
Geoff Jones, Chief Executive of Ticketek parent company TEG, advised “as New Zealand is leading the world with the return of live entertainment, we are pleased that we can offer fans more choice in how they secure tickets to future events.
“Ticketek with Afterpay does just that and we are thrilled that Ticketek New Zealand is following so closely on from Ticketek Australia to offer this world-first to fans.
“It is a time when we know fans need payment choice. Ticketek with Afterpay gives fans greater flexibility in how they pay for tickets, while further augmenting the customer experience through frictionless payments technology.”
Based in Melbourne, Afterpay is currently integrated with more than 48,000 retailers in Australia, New Zealand, the USA and UK, where it operates as ClearPay.
Welcoming the expansion, Afterpay Head of ANZ Rachel Kelly, stated “we are delighted to partner once again with Ticketek, which are continuing to lead the world in ticketing innovation.
“Research shows that only 47% of millennials in New Zealand use a credit card and it is even less for Gen Z, which is driving the desire to offer Afterpay’s solution for tickets, helping fans to budget by paying in four instalments, and pay responsibility without incurring interest. We expect a solid take up from fans to this option.”
