Perth ticket scammer pleads guilty over social media sales of fake concert tickets
A 19-year-old Perth woman who sold forged festival and concert tickets to more than 100 people has this week pleaded guilty in a Perth court to 28 counts of fraud.
Hannah Rebecca Valentine had been charged with 59 counts of gaining a benefit by fraud and had previously pleaded guilty to 22 counts.
On Wednesday she pleaded guilty to a further 28 counts, but is yet to enter pleas for the remaining nine charges.
Valentine appeared in the Perth Magistrate's Court supported by her mother and cried throughout the proceedings.
Her defence counsel said she had accepted responsibility for the offences to which she pleaded guilty, but for some of the charges it remained in question as to whether she had been involved.
Victim offender mediation was already underway and a number of reparations had been made.
Valentine planned to engage in the same process with her other victims and repay their losses, her lawyer advised.
Valentine was granted bail and is due to reappear in court on 15th July, when she is likely to face sentencing.
Western Australian Police alleged that Valentine made thousands of dollars when she begun selling counterfeit tickets in December 2017 using a number of Facebook and Gumtree accounts under various false names.
Aliases used in the transactions included ‘Natalia Sparrow’, ‘Daniella Walsh’, ‘Hannah Jane Mathews’, ‘HannahVal’, ‘Sophie-Marie Lewis’ and ‘Jessica Lewis’.
Valentine had a significant following on social media accounts under her real name, but deleted her accounts after the charges became public.
The events targeted by Valentine included a concert by US rapper Post Malone, Seasons events and the Listen Out music festival.
The matter was handed over to Western Australia Police after Victorian Police received two complaints of fraudulent ticket sales involving Valentine.
