Jetts Fitness looks to ongoing growth in Thailand

Jetts Fitness looks to ongoing growth in Thailand
August 28, 2020

Looking beyond the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic, Jetts Fitness is looking to continue the expansion of its operations in Thailand.

As reported this week by the Bangkok Post, Fitness and Lifestyle Group Thailand Co, the operator of Jetts fitness clubs, remains committed to expansion and will spend 2 billion baht (US$63.9 million) from now until 2024, with the intention of opening 69 new Jetts gyms across the South East Asian nation.

Fitness and Lifestyle Group Thailand Country Manager, Dane Cantwell advised that Brisbane-based parent firm, Fitness and Lifestyle Group (FSB), has approved the business expansion over the next few years while also introducing the Barry's Bootcamp brand.

With the expansion, total Jetts branches will reach 100 by 2024, up from 22 last year with nine new Jetts clubs having so far opened in 2020, including Jetts Black, a premium  fitness centre that officially launched last week at Bangkok’s Parq complex.

Themed in a black with matching coloured equipment and modern interior design, Jetts Black at The Parq offers 1,600 metre² of exercise space, a studio, a playground and a cafe.

The second Jetts Black in 685 metre² of space will open at Gaysorn Village next month.

Pricing for clubs is 1,600 baht (US$51) a month for Jetts 24 Hour Fitness and 1,900 baht (US$60) for Jetts Black.

Commenting on Jett’s expansion, Jetts Asia Chief Executive, Mike Lamb advised "COVID-19 doesn't prevent Jetts from expanding in Thailand.

"The opening of Jetts Black demonstrates our commitment and how we place importance on the Thai market."

After two active years in the Thai market, Lamb sees that the Jetts brand has connected with fitness enthusiasts who want more purpose-driven workouts.

Cantwell sees room for opportunity with Jetts Black, telling the Bangkok Post "only 5% of Thai citizens are doing a gym workout, so we are extremely optimistic about long-term growth in Thailand.”

Cantwell acknowledged that the company had been impacted by lockdown measures but with restrictions eased, business has gradually improved and was almost 100% recovered by the end of June.

He explained "because of COVID-19, people are more aware of their health."

Fitness and Lifestyle Group Thailand also operates four branches of the Hypoxi brand in Pattaya, Phuket, Chiang Mai and the Asok area of Bangkok.

Jetts operates at over 270 locations in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
