New PCYC Walgett equipped with innovative water panel technology

New PCYC Walgett equipped with innovative water panel technology
December 31, 2021

The newly opened Police Citizen’s Youth Club in Walgett has made use of innovative water panel technology to counter supply issues in the often drought impacted northern NSW town.

The $7.5 million facility - a joint project between the NSW Government, PCYC NSW and Walgett Shire Council - utilises 10 new SOURCE® Hydropanels which provide a non-extractive, high-quality, climate-resilient supply of drinking water.

Using solar energy to draw water from the endlessly abundant supply of water vapour in the air, the Hydropanels need no need for electricity or piped water infrastructure.

Explaining that the new technology has bolstered the sustainability attributes of the facility, while ensuring that young people using the facility have consistent access to high-quality drinking water,

PCYC Chief Executive, Dominic Teakle stated “with Walgett’s drinking water facing significant contamination and supply risks, our partnership with SOURCE ensures that those attending PCYC facilities won’t rely on plastic bottled water or high-sugar beverages, further improving local health outcomes.”
