read moreThe complete opening of SeaWorld’s new $50 million New Atlantis precinct is reported to delayed as a result of issues relating to the shipping of components for its rides.
As reported today by the Gold Coast Bulletin this latest delay will see the opening of the two major rides in the new precinct at the Gold Coast theme time extend into a second year having originally been scheduled to launch in ‘mid-2021’.
While New Atlantis’ first ride, the Vortex opened in December 2020, the Leviathan (a wooden rollercoast) and the Trident, the two final rides in the precinct has been slowed due to unavoidable transport problems caused by the pandemic.
Advising that shipping delays due to Covid-19 was the main factor in the holding back of the opening, Village Roadshow Theme Parks Communications Manager, Mitchell Olivey told the Gold Coast Bulletin “our domestic team and international partners were severely impact by shipping delays that have changed our delivery timeline for the Leviathan and Trident attractions at the New Atlantis precinct at Sea World.”
Advising that the new attractions will now open on 3rd September, Olivey added “this new timeline will also allow our team to add additional improved thematic elements to the precinct which will be a truly world-class experience for guests at Sea World.”
