Netball Queensland seeks naming rights sponsor for new Brisbane Arena

Netball Queensland seeks naming rights sponsor for new Brisbane Arena
September 28, 2018

With the new Queensland State Netball Centre due to open next year, Netball Queensland is seeking a naming rights sponsor for the state-of-the-art facility.

When it opens, the $44 million venue, currently known as the Brisbane Arena, will house seven community courts and a 5,000-seat capacity sunken show court - set to become home of the Queensland Firebirds – along with the latest large screen and digital technology.

With the influx of traffic and the growing opportunity, particularly for young netballers around the state, Justin White, Netball Queensland General Manager of Commercial explained the opportunity for equity and association by aligning with women’s sport in Queensland.

White advised “women’s sport and participation is finally being given the opportunity, exposure and presence it truly deserves.

“For those who wish to align with women’s sport; being associated with this new arena will provide brand exposure to more than 300,000 women, girls and families every year, along with extended visibility through broadcast and drive-by traffic.”

Situated in Nathan on one of the busiest intersections in southern Brisbane, more than 33 million vehicles travel past the arena every year, providing exceptional brand exposure.

Offering fully integrated Wi-Fi and digital signage capabilities, a fully equipped cafe, sports medicine centre, an abundance of lifestyle activities and one of the largest commuter park and rides facilities in the city, the arena will accommodate the convenient opportunity for commuters to come for a coffee and stay all day.

Neighbouring Griffith University the Brisbane Arena will form part of the broader Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre precinct that attracts more than 250,000 people per year.

Netball Queensland Chief Executive Catherine Clark is excited by the prospect of having a centralised hub for Queensland netballers to grow and develop, adding “the State Netball Centre is vital for our sport, we now have a home for the Queensland Firebirds. A place where they can train, play and learn. “It’s also of vital importance for us to provide pathways for young Queensland girls who are the future Firebirds of tomorrow.”

With a centralised location and abundant facilities, Netball Queensland will provide services beyond the scope of week to week netball competitions.

With the input of Populous Activate, the brand activation division of global sport architects Populous, the Arena aims to be a place for social interaction and enjoyment, hosting conventions, sporting events, concerts, markets and even e-sport tournaments with the fundamental focus around inclusivity and a sense of community and belonging.

Construction is being completed by Hansen Yuncken - the firm that built the Coomera Sports and Leisure Centre, Carrara Sports Precinct - and is due for completion in early 2019.
