read moreFitness Australia has today announced that Jayne Blake, who recently joined their Board of Directors as an appointed member, will take office as the Chairperson at the Annual General Meeting in November.
Current Fitness Australia Chair David Allan, who will be retiring from his role at the upcoming AGM, as well as leaving the Board, advised “Jayne brings years of experience in the commercial and not‐for‐profit sector. Her appointment to the board and election as Chairperson will assist the association greatly in providing strong governance, as well as assisting the future development of a strategic plan that is aligned to the needs of the association and industry at large.”
Jayne Blake (pictured) specialises in assisting people and organisations to effectively plan for, and drive personal and business growth.
Looking forward to her role, she stated “I have always been an avid consumer of fitness and I’m passionate about the industry. I’m excited and proud to have the opportunity to play a key role in a peak industry body such as Fitness Australia.
“I have worked with a wide range of industries and organisations and I look forward to translating my skills and experience to this role. There are great opportunities ahead and together the Board will work to deliver solid outcomes to address the changing needs of the fitness industry.”
Acknowledging Board members as well as Allan who will be stepping down, Blake stated “on behalf of Fitness Australia, we thank David Allan and Kristen Green, who are both retiring from the Board, for their dedication to enhancing the fitness industry.
“We thank David Allan for his leadership over the last three years as Chairperson and service as a Board member for a total of six years.
“We also thank Kristen Green, an international award winning business woman, whose tenure has spanned 10 years.
“Her involvement has included serving on the Fitness Australia Board of Directors for four years, Fitness NSW Board for one year, and two Fitness Australia Councils over a five year period ... an outstanding legacy of dedication to the fitness industry’s peak association Fitness Australia.”
Jayne Blake has managed her own consultancy business, JBC International since 2009, specialising in assisting people and organisations to effectively plan for, and drive personal and business growth. Through JBC, Jayne has achieved success in coaching and consulting assignments in the Corporate, SME and Not‐For‐Profit segments.
Blake has also successfully performed Board roles including Chair, and Chair Audit and Risk and other Board Committees, she is currently a Director at HeartKids, an organisation which aims to conquer Congenital Heart Disease, the single biggest cause of death of Australian babies.
In her corporate career, Blake worked for Vodafone Group in various General Manager roles in the UK and Australia, in Finance, Commercial and Customer Service functions, until becoming Sales Director in 2004.
Fitness Australia’s Annual General Meeting will be held in Sydney on Thursday 15th November 2018.
