read moreAustralian Cleantech business ReNutrients is using revolutionary technology developed in Europe that harvests the precious minerals from waste batteries and turns them into organic liquid fertiliser.
ReNutrients has a goal to raise the awareness about the disastrous battery recycling behaviours in Australia spotlighting that every year over 419 million handheld batteries are sold in Australia and that of those - 96% of alkaline batteries either go to landfill or are being shipped overseas.
As batteries begin to break down in landfill, heavy metals can leach into the surface and groundwater. One small battery can pollute 167,000 litres of drinking water - a seriously concerning prospect considering 15% of large landfills and 65% of medium sized landfills in Australia are unlined.
The patented revolutionary technology converts used alkaline batteries into a rich micronutrient fertiliser. Approved for organic input in Australia, trials have shown increased yields for growers by up to 26% when using Tracegrow’s organic liquid fertiliser, ZM-Grow. It also outperformed traditional competing products in both yield volume and enrichment of crops. It’s been extensively tested, it works, it’s sustainable and low in carbon emission to produce.
Instead of shipping off Australia’s waste to other countries, ReNutrients has plans to establish a local manufacturing plant for ZM-Grow and other recycled products to process the waste and produce in demand, useful, sustainable products, in multiple industries.
ReNutrients have the first rights to purchase a production facility and manufacture Tracegrow’s patented organic fertiliser in Australia and have received strong interest from both State and Federal Governments.
