To be undertaken with the ride’s manufacturer, the work will include a theming update, new ride operating system and new ride vehicles, which will include a tester seat.
As reported by 7News, the ride’s braking system will be upgraded to magnetic brakes, part of the ride’s track will be replaced, and the designs of the ride will be updated.
More than 21.9 million patrons have ridden the Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster in its 21 years of operations at the theme park.
In a Facebook post, a Village Roadshow Theme Parks spokesperson advised that it was “continually evolving and enhancing our guests’ experience”, adding “this announcement follows the recent Wild West Falls Adventure Ride, Road Runner Rollercoaster and Justice League 3D - The Ride upgrades.”
In the light of increased media and social media scrutiny of amusement rides, Village Roadshow Theme Parks has been emphasising the safety of its rides and its procedures to ensure safety over the peak summer period.
