The latest in a series of gym closures across the country has seen the UFC Gym Penrith cease operations as of the end of last month.

In a notice to members, the operators of the franchise advised of the unexpected closure as of Friday 23rd March.

The notice explained "we understand this news may come as a disappointment, however, three years of COVID disruption and the compounding challenges of economic uncertainty have certainly taken their toll.

“Our team is working diligently to find a new location that meets our high standards for equipment, facilities and accessibility.”

It is understood that no further membership fees will be taken.

The gym opened in April 2018 and was approaching its five-year anniversary.

Former UFC Gym franchisees in Balcatta, Western Australia and at Blacktown and Castle Hill in NSW have launched legal action in the Federal Court of Australia against the Ultimate Franchising Group Pty Ltd (UFG), the Australian master franchisor for USA-based UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) Gyms over claims of inaccurate income projections provided to franchisees.
