Presented on the Gold Coast in June, the National Excellence Awards recognises the outstanding achievements of ASSA Member Swim Schools.
The private family-owned swim school, located in the southern Perth suburb of Forestdale, was recognised for their efforts across environmental, social and financial sustainability, setting a new benchmark for swim schools concerned about preserving the earth for future generations.
With owners Lari and Bill McDonald having purpose-built Seadragonz with sustainability in mind, Lari McDonald advised "sustainability isn’t just something we do, it’s who we are!"
These sustainability initiatives have included recycling 100% of wastewater, installation of solar panels, recycling or reusing all possible items, a switch to a paperless booking system, sourcing ethical suppliers, and investing back into the local community through sponsorships and donations for those in need.
The award joins to a long list of achievements for the school, who recently also won the Switch Your Thinking business award for climate-change abatement action.
