Perth’s Aloha Surfhouse ‘devastated’ by ongoing delay with provision of barrel wave settings

Perth’s Aloha Surfhouse ‘devastated’ by ongoing delay with provision of barrel wave settings
May 18, 2018

Having proven popular since opening in the Perth suburb of Joondalup in January, the operators of the Aloha Surfhouse indoor wave pool facility are growing frustrated at not being able to offer the barrel wave at the attraction.

Australia’s first indoor surfing venue, which also offers Western Australia’ first Clip ‘n Climb with more than 20 climbing challenges, has only been able to run its training and river waves, which can cater for beginners through to advanced body boarders and surfers, and its party wave for up to 12 riders.

However, to date, the supplier behind the technology, American Wave Machines have not been able to deliver the barrel wave at the attraction.

In a Facebook post today, Aloha Surfhouse Director Adam Blackwood advised “we know you have all been waiting patiently for our barrel wave settings to come in and we want to keep you in the loop with what is happening. As some of you are already aware, we weren’t able to launch our bigger waves when the business opened due to equipment faults. Unfortunately, we have been advised this week of a further delay in delivery from our supplier, which means we will need to push out the launch of the barrel.

“The delay continues to be devastating for us and whilst we’d love to have the barrel settings running for you all (trust us, we can't wait to sneak in a cheeky surf too), the delay is out of our hands at this stage.”

Aloha Surfhouse are currently offering reduced cost access to the wave for $30 per rider.

California, USA-based American Wave Machines have been contacted for comment.
