OneMusic extends temporary licensing arrangement for live streaming of fitness classes

OneMusic extends temporary licensing arrangement for live streaming of fitness classes
March 1, 2021

Music licensing body OneMusic Australia has today advised that the "extraordinary and temporary arrangement for fitness classes to be live streamed" has been extended to 30th June 2021.

The extension of the arrangement for business who already have a licence with OneMusic Australia, has been expanded to the middle of the year as a result of the body being aware of the issues that fitness and wellbeing operators continue to face through the Coronavirus pandemic.

The body has previously advised that the "offering gives certainty to the sector pivoting to online classes to stay afloat during the pandemic".

OneMusic Australia is currently creating a Licence Agreement for this top-up cover. Until then, existing customers with a fitness licence can contact the body to ask for this cover to be added.

At the moment, OneMusic Australia cannot cover streams via other platforms like YouTube and Facebook as its doesn’t own or control all the music rights for these platforms.

For the dance and performance sector there is also an option to add live-streamed licence cover to existing dance licences. This additional activity under OneMusic Australia’s licence coverage is granted for a temporary period due to the extraordinary circumstances brought about by COVID-19.
