New KFit subscription plan reduces subscriber gym access

New KFit subscription plan reduces subscriber gym access
April 28, 2016

Mobile fitness-sharing platform KFit has made a dramatic change to its terms and conditions, moving from giving members unlimited access to fitness activities to now offering just 10 monthly passes to fitness activities.

Part of a wave of new fitness pass programs that have emerged in the past 18 months, the website of the Malaysian-based business, which operates in Auckland, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, as well as in Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Seoul, Taipei, Manila and Singapore shows that it offers more than 500,000 monthly activities at over 5,000 facilities to close to 300,000 signed up users.

When launched, users that subscribed to KFit could book unlimited sessions to activities listed on the platform.

However, KFit recently altered the terms and conditions so that subscribers (who pay $69 a month in Australia) now only get 10 passes a month to the fitness classes and activities that they chose.

The move has caused disquiet among KFit’s users with many taking to Facebook to raise their concerns.

One Australian member posted on Facebook: "Hey KFit, pretty disappointed with the recent announcement to cap the number of classes per month. Thought you were trying to encourage fitness but dropping down to 10 per month isn't even three per week!"

The change would appear to have resulted from KFit’s original subscription plan being unsustainable or may have been part of business’ long term strategy. However, giving their early users unlimited access and then downgrading appears to have resulted in considerable dissatisfaction among customers.

In October last year, KFit merged with two Australian competitors, Classhopper and SweatPass, to accelerate its presence in Australia and New Zealand.
