MetLife signs three-year partnership with Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust
May 26, 2021

MetLife Australia, a specialist life insurance provider, has announced a significant three-year corporate partnership with the Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust which encompasses the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan, the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mount Tomah, the Domain and the Australian Institute of Botanical Science as a principal partner.

Richard Nunn, MetLife Australia Chief Executive notes “we’re proud to announce that MetLife Australia is a principal partner of the Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust. MetLife is a purpose driven organisation committed to positively contributing to sustainability and ensuring we do the right thing for the communities we serve. This partnership will be key to helping us reach our sustainability and environmental goals as well as provide our people with ways to contribute back to the community.”

The partnership aligns closely with MetLife’s global commitment to sustainability and making a positive impact on the community. Employees will have the chance to engage through volunteering and learning opportunities, contributing to both the company’s global 2030 Environmental Goals and Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan commitments.

MetLife will participate in volunteer programs, with employees invited to join in activities such as tree planting at the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan; Community Greening which is a social outreach program that takes the expertise of the Gardens ‘beyond the garden walls’ into low socio-economic communities; and volunteering with the Gardens’ expert Horticulture team.

The partnership will also focus on Aboriginal cultural training, which will be provided by the Gardens’ First Nations staff and is designed to deliver tangible change at a personal and professional level for MetLife employees.

Denise Ora, Chief Executive Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust added “we are happy that MetLife has chosen to support the important work we do across our three Gardens. From digitising our extensive specimen collection to contributing to the re-greening of our local environment, many hands make light work. We look forward to a fruitful partnership with the MetLife team.”
