City of Darwin looks for sustainable research projects to help improve urban forest
September 16, 2021

City of Darwin has opened its Climate Change and Environment Research Grants recognising that sustainable and innovative research projects are needed from organisations to help take care of the City’s natural environment and changing climate.

The Research Grants providing funding between $5,000 and $50,000 for research that directly benefits the Darwin community.

Drawing Lord Mayor Elect Kon Vatskalis said that Council takes climate change and environmental issues very seriously and they are a top priority for Council noting “this is demonstrated through the recent delivery of two major and important strategies, Climate Emergency and Greening Darwin.

“Applications need to demonstrate that they strongly align with one or more of these strategies to help manage climate change and environmental impacts on our community and surrounds now and into the future.

“This is your opportunity to make a difference and I encourage people to put on their thinking caps, be innovative and forward-thinking.”

Key research areas to consider in applications include:

  • Outcomes that can improve the resilience of Darwin’s urban forest
  • Outcomes that will contribute to key areas of Council’s Climate Emergency and Greening Darwin Strategies.

Applicants must have an ABN and individuals without an ABN will need to be auspiced by an organisation with an ABN.

Applications are now open and close on Friday, 15th October 2021.
