read moreAttendances at Carlton FC 2024 AFL Premiership are breaking records with four of the club’s 13 games this season played in front of over 80,000 people - the first ever time the Blues have ever achieved such a feat.
The 88,510 AFL fans who attended the MCG on the evening of Sunday 9th June for the Essendon against Carlton clash was second biggest home-and-away crowd that the Blues have ever achieved against their arch-rivals.
This followed 83,881 fans attending the MCG for Carlton’s first home game of the season against Richmond in Round one while, six weeks later, Carlton helped Geelong set its own club record for a home-and-away game when 87,775 attended the historic venue in Round seven.
Five days later, there were 88,362 at the MCG for the Peter Mac Cup between Carlton and Collingwood, with 9th June game narrowly beating out that Round 8 clash by 148 people to take second spot for largest crowds of the season so far (behind only Anzac Day).
The large crowds are set to continue with the announcement last week that the return clash between Collingwood and Carlton, to be played on night of Saturday 3rd August, is already sold out.
When the crowd piles in for that game, it’ll be the first time ever the Blues will have played in front of five home-and-away crowds of more than 80,000 in the same season.
In addition, a large crowd is expected for this Friday’s annual AFL Carlton Respects Game against Geelong plus a celebration of the Club’s 160-year history to come against Hawthorn in Round 22 still to come at the MCG.
