read moreWith the support of world leading swimwear brand Speedo, the AquaPhysical AquaBase floating exercise mat has been launched into the Australian market at an event at the landmark North Sydney Olympic Pool.
Part of a growing number of products and programs in the fast growing aquatic fitness sector, AquaPhysical’s AquaBase is a low impact exercise platform that floats on water, strengthening all muscles equally with every move.
As a growing number of facilities are recognising, water workouts offer a range of benefits for members and patrons.
The movement created by the water requires both the core and concentration to work together to stay on top of the AquaBase causing the body’s intricate stabilisation muscles that prevent dislocation and add strength to joints work overtime. These muscle fibres often go ‘unworked’ in a normal workout and the core has to work continually to stay balanced. Burning more calories than undertaking the same exercise on land, participants’ muscles go into overdrive having to stay equally balanced to work out on the AquaBase.
With the AquaBase FloatFit workout, participants used muscles that they wouldn’t use on dry land - specifically the small intricate stabilising muscles.
AquaPhysical founder and Master Trainer Tom Whelan explains “FloatFit is a 30 minute workout on water - offering a full body workout on a body length, unstable, floating platform away from congested studios.
“It adds a new, effective dimension to an everyday workout and often participants don't realise it's actually an exercise class until they wake up the following morning,”
With a mission to inspire people to swim, any fitness activity that places active Australians within an aquatic environment is one Speedo are keen to be involved in.
As Graham Eyres, Brand Manager Speedo Pacific explains “as a sports brand, we have an ongoing responsibility to grow the participation of Australian’s exercising in and on the water, hence the AquaPhysical partnership was a perfect fit.
“The introduction of the AquaBase product into Australia provides fitness enthusiasts with a new and exciting way to stay Speedo Fit.”
Speedo’s Cross Training apparel range has been designed for fitness in and out of the water. From dry land training to water based activities, the Speedo range is the perfect solution for any physical activity that’s part of a fitness regime.
The range is fast drying, so helps wearers to stay comfortable and supported, allowing them to focus on their exercise.
Classes using the AquaBase are already underway at Personal Best Aquatics (Mundingburra, Queensland), Mingara Recreation Club (Gosford, NSW) and State Swim (Adelaide, South Australia) – with more classes launching very soon.
Australians can purchase an AquaBase directly from AquaPhysical at www.aquaphysical.com
