Expanding on the current Urban Climb facility in West End, the centres in Milton and Newstead will feature a range of climbing innovations including unique curved climbing walls and LED lighting.
As with the West End facility, the Urban Climb has partnered with Indoor Climbing Productions (ICP) and Walltopia to construct their new facilities.
Speaking to ICP about his decision to expand the Urban Climb brand, Urban Climb owner Alex Cox-Taylor commented “it’s exciting times for climbing in Australia ... we’re seeing unprecedented growth in the sport as more people realise the wonders of climbing.
“At Urban Climb we’ve committed to a growth path to continue to be a catalyst and leader in the development of climbing of all types and at all levels.
“We decided we wanted to build a number of world class facilities, both bouldering and climbing, and knew the obvious choice of companies to facilitate our ambitions, and turn our vision into a reality would be ICP and Walltopia.
“Walltopia is the world leader in climbing wall design and manufacture from Europe and ICP is the Australian company that makes everything possible.”
Adding several of the world’s top hold brands, competition walls, co-op work space, air conditioning (Newstead) and a single membership for all three venues are among Urban Climb’s innovations
Bulgarian-based Walltopia dedicates its business solely to production, innovation and enhancement of indoor climbing walls around the world, leading the industry with new wall shapes like the ‘space’ prototype and 3D rendered walls.
Walltopia has installed some of the biggest and most impressive walls and volumes for competitions at the highest level but are still dedicated to getting even the smallest and most local jobs perfect.
ICP are also adding a Walltopia climbing wall to the Sunshine Coast Recreation Centre in Currimundi.
