Perth's Adventure World had to evacuate one of its pools on Boxing Day when a dangerous snake took a dip in one of its pools.

A dugite presumed to be trying to escape Perth's hot weather forced Adventure World staff to evacuate swimmers from the attraction’s main pool after the snake was spotted.

Video footage of the incident shows a crowd of guests cheering pool-side as a staff member successfully catches the venomous reptile and removes it from the water using a snake bag.

Adventure World Chief Executive Mark Shaw told media said the pool was evacuated for about 15 minutes before a staff member trained in snake handling caught the sneaky visitor and released it into nearby Bibra Lake Reserve.

Shaw explained “the snake was spotted making its way towards the pool by a lifeguard and we then evacuated the pool as per our normal procedures.

"We have the odd (snake) sighting when the park's closed. They might sneak out for a sunbake but generally snakes don't like being around people, they tend to hide away so it's very unusual (to see one on a busy day).”

Shaw added “we noted that the snake didn't have a wristband, so he didn't pay to get in."
