Shepparton Riverlinks advises patrons to avoid ticket scalping risks

Shepparton Riverlinks advises patrons to avoid ticket scalping risks
May 12, 2021

Shepparton performing arts venue Riverlinks is advising music and entertainment lovers to purchase their tickets through authorised selling channels in order to not be disappointed by unauthorised ticket sellers and “to avoid any nasty surprises”.

Manager Performing Arts and Conventions at Riverlinks, Ken Cameron said members of the public should only purchase tickets from the authorised ticket seller, which in the case of Riverlinks shows is Riverlinks itself.

Cameron advised “at Riverlinks we love bringing people together for fun memorable experiences, so it’s important that you’re getting what you’ve paid for when it comes to your tickets and having a memorable experience for all the right reasons.

“It’s upsetting to see customers getting scammed through resale ticket markets. Our team tries to help patrons where we can and we urge everyone planning on attending a Riverlinks Venue show to book through Riverlinks either via the website or through our Box Office direct.

“Unauthorised ticket reselling, or ticket scalping occurs when a ticket is resold, often at an inflated price, without permission from the venue or presenter. Scalpers may use a range of methods to make a profit, by buying and cancelling tickets once they’ve been resold or even making multiple copies of the same ticket.

“Unfortunately if you present a fraudulent ticket to venues, including Riverlinks, this is a breach of their terms and conditions and may lead to the ticket holder being denied entry to the event.”

Cameron added that the venue is grateful to be getting back to the stage after the challenges of COVID-19 and doesn’t want patrons to miss out. Here are tips for getting the best tickets.

He offers the following advice

  • Sign up for alerts - Sign up to our eLink fortnightly newsletter or follow us on social media to find out the latest information on upcoming events at Riverlinks Venues.
  • Avoid search engines - Scalpers will often use advertising and web pages which look official to trick people into thinking they are visiting authorised ticket sellers. Do your research, promoters and artists will always include the links to the official ticket seller for their events, find out from the source who the authorised sellers are ahead of purchasing tickets.
  • Check the return policy - Tickets purchased through Riverlinks may be refunded up to 24 hours prior to the performance. If you’re purchasing through an unauthorised seller your rights to a refund may be affected if the show is postponed or cancelled.
