Entertainment and Live Performance sector representatives takes argument for industry support to Canberra
March 23, 2021

Representatives of industry groups including Live Performance Australia, APRA AMCOS and the Live Entertainment Industry Forum along with artist managers Catherine Haridy and John Watson, met with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg and Australian Minister for the Arts Paul Fletcher yesterday to warn how the sector could be devastated when the  JobKeeper allowance ends this month.

Yesterday’s meetings at Parliament house in Canberra saw the group raise key issues facing the sector including job retention and how the industry will get through the coming months with a view to summer music tours being reactivated as of the last quarter of the year.

With promoters and venue owners appealing to governments to let venues return to full capacity crowds and commit to keeping state borders open, as recently as last Friday, Live Performance Australia (LPA) called for states and territories to outline the timeframe to allow all live entertainment venues to operate at 100% capacity and to guarantee borders would remain open now the vaccination program was underway.

At the time of this article being posted outcomes of the meetings are not available.
