read moreThe Orange Aquatic Centre is set to reopen on Monday following the completion of a range of renovation works.
Closed on 24th March as part of COVID-19 shutdowns, Orange City Council took the opportunity to refurbish the 25-metre indoor pool at the facility.
Initially planning to strip back and repaint the pool surface, once the repairs were underway it was discovered more extensive work was required to properly restore the surface.
With that work now completed, the Council advises that the life of the leisure pool has been significantly extended due to the remediation.
Looking forward to the reopening, Orange City Councillor Jason Hamling, Chair of the Sport and Recreation Community Committee thanked patrons for their patience while the maintenance was carried out, telling the Central Western Daily “it will be great to be back swimming in the warmth of the indoor pool hall and the 28-degree water of the 25-metre pool.”
The 25-metre indoor pool will operate in accordance with COVID-19 health regulations the reopened pool will be restricted to swimming only, with four adults or six children allowed to occupy each lane.
Swimmers have to book and are only allowed to be inside the complex to swim, shower and exit for one hour.
Explaining these measures, Councillor Hamling added "let's be a COVIDSafe community by complying with government health orders and following the rules for everyone's benefit."
Once the 25-metre indoor pool re-opens the 50-metre outdoor pool will be closed, until early October.
