read moreMindful that climate change presents both opportunities and challenges for the tourism industry, the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC), in partnership with the Griffith Institute for Tourism and the Queensland Department of Environment and Science, have spent the past six months developing the Building a resilient tourism industry: Queensland tourism climate change response plan.
Seeing that climate change is an economic issue as much as an environmental one, the plan is about tourism leading the way in supporting and driving a successful transition to a low carbon economy.
To introduce the plan QTIC is hosting a launch event on the Sunshine Coast this Friday (25th May), that will be addressed by Queensland Assistant Minister for Tourism Industry Development Meaghan Scanlon, Spicers Retreats’ Marketing Director Kira Klein and The Circular Experiment founders, Ashleigh and Jaine Morris.
The latter speakers will discuss some of the benefits they have achieved through changing their businesses to build climate resilience.
The launch will see the sharing of insights into the development and recommendations of the plan, an engaging panel discussion with key industry leaders and advocates, and present networking opportunities with professionals from across the tourism industry.
The event is free to attend.
