read morePerth’s Optus Stadium will host a purpose-built pop-up go kart track attraction over the summer months with 730-metre track set to operate at Stadium Park.
Due to open for this Friday (11th December) and operate until the end of February, the circuit incorporates the Stadium Park East Precinct area near the Perth Stadium train station, stretching around gardens and under overpasses, and also includes a 150m straight track allowing drivers to reach high speeds.
Stadium Park Karts, a joint venture between Optus Stadium and The Kart Centre, will enable people to race against up to 19 friends in Italian designed Ricciardo Karts, capable of hitting speeds of 60kmh.
Operated by The Kart Centre, the pop-up go-kart venture will run seven days a week for a season of up to 12 weeks, using karts specially imported from Italy.
Perth-born Formula 1 legend Daniel Ricciardo has not only given his name to the karts but was involved in their design, production and development.
Commenting on the summer attraction, Western Australian Sport and Recreation Minister, Mick Murray stated “over the last three years, VenuesLive and VenuesWest have worked hard to ensure the diverse utilisation of Optus Stadium and the Stadium Park - with the precinct hosting movies, festivals, concerts and of course sporting events.
"This new pop-up go-kart track, ready right in time for the summer holidays, is an exciting new addition to the Optus Stadium precinct and I cannot wait to hit the track."
Optus Stadium operator VenuesLive last week introduced G9 Stadium Golf at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium, which it also manages.
