Renowned national weight loss trainer and motivational expert, Lee Campbell, is looking to help transform the lives of local residents through fitness and wellbeing as he takes the helm of Gold's Gym Fyshwick, situated in the retail and light industrial estate east of the South Canberra district.

Campbell (pictured top right)  is a well-known figure in the Australian fitness landscape, celebrated for his exceptional expertise in personal and team training, local youth programs, adventure and outdoor activities, corporate challenges, and his engaging television presence on Channel 9’s Celebrity Overhaul and Big: Extreme Makeover, and as the resident health and fitness expert on the Morning Show.

Campbell, who co-authored the book Get In Shape with Australian TV icon Ita Buttrose, has for over 30 years, devoted himself to the health and fitness industry and says he is now eager to usher in an exciting era for Gold’s Gym Fyshwick and its community. 

He advises “I have lived and breathed fitness my whole life and my aim has always been to help clients achieve a healthy, functioning body that is able to support them throughout their daily lives.

“Gold’s Gym has an incredible international brand and is known for building legacies which is exactly what I want to do here with the local community.

“I want people to feel confident to walk into Gold’s Gym Fyshwick knowing we are a community of inclusiveness and inspiration. Whether you’re a new mum, a teenager exploring health and wellness for the first time, recovering from an injury, or an experienced bodybuilder, the gym and our trainers will support you in every way possible.”

Campbell was a foundation member of Gold’s Gym, and when the opportunity came up to take over the Fyshwick location, he said he could not pass it up, noting “I’ve been to Gold’s Gym in Venice Beach. I remember the influence of Arnold Shwarznegger, and as a Veteran myself I feel connected to Joe Gold and his merchant marine background.

“These men were pioneers in the fitness industry, and I am excited to share their legacy and my passion for health and wellness with our clients.

“Mental health is also a huge focus of mine. It’s become an epidemic in our communities and it is something I will focus on heavily in my training style."

As well as welcoming a new front of house team and a number of new dedicated trainers, Gold’s Gym Fyshwick is undergoing a range of major upgrades, including new cardio and weighted equipment, renovations for more floor space, new saunas, refurbished bathrooms, and new group fitness classes.

Campbell is also introducing new campaigns and giveaways for members including the chance to win a trip to Venice Beach in California for two which includes accommodation, flights and a personal training package at the MECCA of bodybuilding - Gold’s Gym Venice Beach.

Gold’s Gym Australia Chief Operating Officer Glen Farrow said Campbell’s ownership marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the gym and he is keen to see the transformations that will unfold.
