HOYTS reopens cinemas in Australia with staged approach
Hoyts, one of the world’s largest cinema exhibitors has announced the reopening of cinemas in Australia from today noting that it will continue to exercise caution and take a staged approach to ensure they are aligned with the most up-to-date advice on COVID-19 safety measures from the NSW, ACT, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Western South Australian governments.
Hoyts has been advanced in preparations to ensure guests and team members are in the safest possible environment. These measures include additional staff training, temperature checks for staff, additional cleaning protocols, in-cinema seat separation, encouragement for online bookings and social distancing.
The reopening of cinemas in Australia follows the successful reopening of HOYTS cinemas across New Zealand in early June.
Food and beverage facilities will be available, with the option for guests to order tickets, food, and drinks in advance via the Hoyts App (Google Play and Apple Store) and website.
Hoyts Chief Executive and President Damian Keogh advised “we are excited to open our doors in time for the school holidays and welcome guests back to the HOYTS experience, along with $10 movie tickets on select titles.”
New release blockbusters to screen in the coming weeks will include Russell Crowe’s Unhinged, romantic comedy The Broken Hearts Gallery, Judd Apatow’s latest comedy The King of Staten Island, Disney’s live action Mulan, Christopher Nolan’s epic Tenet, thriller New Mutants, comedy Bill & Ted Face The Music and more.
Movies set to screen from opening include those that were released just before the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, including audience favourites Bloodshot, Bad Boys for Life, 1917, and The Gentlemen plus many family movies just in time for the school holidays with Sonic The Hedgehog, Jumanji: The Next Level, Dolittle, Addams Family, Call of the Wild, and retro favourites Ghostbusters (1984), The Goonies, Matilda, Labyrinth, plus all eight Harry Potter movies, to name just a few.
