read moreGuidelines have been released today by Gymnastics Australia aimed at supporting gymnastics clubs and other stakeholders with the delivery, improvement, and enhancement of gymnastics facilities across Australia.
The National Facilities Guidelines detail Gymnastics Australia’s recommendations and preferred standards for facilities and provide gymnastics clubs with the tools to allow them to scope, design and deliver sustainable, inclusive, and successful gymnastics facilities.
Developed with the support of Sport Australia, Gymnastics Victoria, Gymnastics Western Australia, and Gymnastics Tasmania, and in collaboration with all State and Territory Associations, the National Facilities Guidelines aim to elevate the delivery and accessibility of gymnastics to participants throughout Australia.
Speaking about the release of the Guidelines, Gymnastics Australia’s General Manager, Member Services, Bradley Low, said that providing access to facilities that are safe and appropriate for all members of the community is key to driving participation numbers.
Low advised “until now, gymnastics in Australia has not had a comprehensive set of guidelines that provide gymnastics clubs and other key stakeholders with the guidance to deliver facilities in line with industry best practice.
“We now have one of the most comprehensive gymnastics facility resources ever produced in Australia. Our ultimate goal is to elevate the delivery and accessibility of gymnastics as the home of fundamental movement and physical literacy to participants throughout Australia.”
Leading Advisors, Sport Business Partners were engaged to deliver this important piece of work which included stakeholder consultation, industry research as well as the development of the guidelines themselves.
Sport Business Partners Managing Director, Martin Hirons adds “SBP Advisors is thrilled to have worked with Gymnastics Australia on this industry leading piece of work. We believe it will assist gymnastics clubs across Australia to plan and deliver functional facilities and most importantly, create safe and inclusive spaces to help inspire the next generation of gymnasts.
“Our recent work with gymnastics has highlighted the critical role the sport plays in developing the physical literacy of young Australians - and the resulting lifelong health benefits associated with an active lifestyle.
“We look forward to continuing our partnership with Gymnastic Australia to build on and evolve these guidelines to ensure they remain a leading resource not only in Australia but also globally.”
