read moreVictorian Government funding of more than $8.1 million is helping more Victorians get involved in sport and active recreation, boosting participation opportunities across the state.
The funding will activate 58 projects through the latest round of the State Government’s Together More Active program which draws on the power of sport to make a difference; helping organisations build safe, inclusive, and resilient environments that encourage participation and support volunteer skills development.
This round, the program is backing the continuation of a Disability Sport and Recreation pilot program to support and enhance the capability of sport clubs competing at the 2026 Special Olympic Australia National Games in Melbourne in 2026.
GippSport is one of nine Regional Sport Assemblies sharing in a significant investment to strengthen grassroots sport across regional Victoria – building participation, supporting volunteers and creating more inclusive clubs.
Motorsport Australia will be partnering with Victorian clubs and Driver Dynamics to introduce women to motorsport through car control exercises and a competitive motorkhana, supported by experienced coaches and designed to create a low-cost, inclusive entry point into the sport.
The Centre for Multicultural Youth, in partnership with The Koorie Heritage Trust, will work with seven state sporting associations (basketball, cricket, soccer, AFL, netball, rugby league and tennis) to tackle racism in sport.
The Together More Active 2023-27 Program is part of the State Government’s Active Victoria strategy that sets out Victoria’s priorities for sport and active recreation that ensure even more people can tap into all the benefits that sport and active recreation delivers.
