read moreThe franchise which operates almost 50 clubs across five states - NSW, Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria and South Australia - including in the suburb of Unley, where the original club and franchise support centre are still based today, has, throughout its three decades of operation maintained a commitment to offering quality fitness industry products and services and a focus on driving industry leadership.
EFM Health Clubs Chief Executive, Peter Rohde explains that the group’s unique approach and point of difference within the fitness industry has contributed significantly to its success and longevity as a business and its many industry and business awards.
Rohde, who took up the position of Chief Executive in 2014 and is proud that EFM remains a privately owned, Australian business, notes “we are delighted to be celebrating our 30th anniversary year in 2021, and proud to have created a network of around 50 health clubs nationally offering employment opportunities to hundreds of people and helping around 5000 members achieve their health and fitness goals. Some of those members have been with us since day one in 1991 and we’re incredibly grateful for that.
“We are particularly proud of our ability to meet the challenges of the last few years, especially enduring the uncertainty and restrictions caused by the global pandemic. As a franchise group, we have responded to the changes well and I am incredibly proud of everyone in our team.”
Rohde went on to state “we’re unique in what we do in many ways … one of our key differences is that we actually specialise in running health clubs from within hospitals and schools, in addition to our many public sites.
“We operate several clubs from within hospitals throughout Australia, where we provide health and fitness programs for the hospital staff. We also have clubs located onsite at schools. Within these clubs, we run fitness programs for the school community and are proud to be playing a role in keeping staff fit and healthy, but also in fighting childhood obesity through our student 'Fit 2 Play' sessions. The majority of our clubs located onsite at hospitals and schools are also open to the local community and general public as well.”
To mark its 30 year milestone, during September, EFM Health Clubs are running a free online challenge across its Facebook and Instagram accounts (@efmhealthclubs).
The EFM ‘30 years 30 Day Challenge’ will see participants of all fitness levels and ages from right across Australia participate in a daily exercise challenge for the chance to go in the draw to win weekly prizes and an overall grand prize.
Rohde adds “it’s the perfect way for everyone to get involved and celebrate while our NSW and Victroian clubs are currently closed due to lockdowns.”
EFM Health Clubs initially operated under the name Executive Fitness Management (EFM) when it was established in 1991 in Unley by Shane Radbone, ex SANFL and AFL footballer.
EFM Health Clubs is Australia’s leading provider of Personalised Training Programs for over 30 years with locations in Qld, NSW, Vic, Tas and SA. EFM Health Clubs unique, personalised training sets us aside from other commercial gyms and fitness clubs as our members receive unrivalled guidance and support, for exceptional results from our qualified trainers and coaches.
