read moreNeptune Benson's Defender Ultra Fine Filter have been announced as the first product to be certified under the new industry standardising certification program, the Swimming Pool and Spa Association of Australia Ltd (SPASA) Climate Care Certification - the Australian aquatic industry’s efficiency and sustainability certification program.
The certification sees Defender Filters as the only product in the world with NSF (National Sanitation Foundation), Australian Smart WaterMark and now SPASA Climate Care certification.
Launched earlier this year, SPASA Climate Care certification is an efficiency and sustainability certification program designed to support, protect and promote the way the swimming pool and spa industry operates and strives for best practice sustainable solutions.
By participating in the Climate Care Certification Program, members of SPASA can promote their products, services and installations under an industry approved, environmentally sustainable program.
A climate care certified product, system or installation/retrofit/construction is one that creates a new benchmark for swimming pools and spas which utilises:
• Water efficiency/sustainability
• Energy efficiency
• Noise reduction measures
• Environmentally sustainable designs
• Efficiency/sustainability innovations
Defender Filters are firmly positioned as the worlds most tested, proven and highly credentialed Filter, eliminating the amount of backwash water associated with sand filter operation. Instead of backwashing, the Defender filter is programmed to automatically ‘bump’ to regenerate the fine-grade perlite media for a fresh start. Eventually the filter will become saturated with trapped dirt and will require a quick and easy media discharge and replacement.
Depending on bather load, the life cycle of the media averages around every four weeks.
Benefits:
• Eliminates more than 90% of the backwash water associated normal sand filter operation
• Energy Savings achieved through lower head pressure and elimination of backwash
• Removes particles down to 1 micron
• Smaller design and installation footprint
Recognised internationally, Defender Filters have particular relevance when used in Australia, given the nation’s frequent droughts and issues relating to water supply.
