read moreThe Kempsey Shire community is being invited to inspect and offer feedback on the plans for the Macleay Valley Recreation Adventure Park at the Kempsey Airport. The adventure park will provide residents and tourists with an entertaining attraction and will include a rock climbing and sky diving centre, BMX pump track, canopy swoop pond, accommodation and more.
The adventure park is considered to deliver a vital economic boost for the Mid North Coast region.
The planning proposal is the first step in allowing the construction to take place on land at Kempsey Airport. The application asks for the Kempsey Local Environmental Plan to be amended to allow activities on the land including indoor recreation and tourist accommodation, consisting of serviced apartments, hotel and motel accommodation and backpackers accommodation.
If the planning proposal is successful, separate approval is still needed before works begin.
A development application has been submitted seeking approval to develop the adventure park. Due to the scale of this proposed development, the development application has been referred to the Northern Regional Planning Panel for determination.
As Council has submitted this development application, a consultant town planner is independently assessing and providing advice directly to the Northern Regional Planning Panel.
If the development application is successful, the adventure park will move forward and seek correct approvals to begin construction.
The planning proposal and the development application are on public exhibition until 5pm Monday 13th June 2022.
If residents want to make a submission, please use the references below to ensure it is directed to the relevant person for consideration:
