read moreFollowing its first seasonal closure, Ardent Leisure’s WhiteWater World waterpark on the Gold Coast is set to re-open ahead of the September holidays.
Preparations for the re-opening have taken place over recent months, with a significant focus on ensuring maintenance activity and refurbishments were completed - resulting in improved ride availability for guests during peak periods.
In addition to park improvements, WhiteWater World over 100 positions in aquatic safety, slide operation and guest services filled ahead of its opening.
Excited to both welcome back existing team members who were seconded to roles within Dreamworld and also to welcome new team members to the waterpark, WhiteWater World Operations Director, Michelle Erasmus stated “it’s been so fantastic to see so many applications and to be able to offer employment to over 100 Queenslanders.
“We’re incredibly excited to kick off WhiteWater World’s warmer seasons with an enthusiastic team that can’t wait to help our guests make new memories at the park.”
“The team have undergone rigorous training, including the Comprehensive Aquatic Risk Management Program (CARMP) developed by leading aquatic safety supplier, Jeff Ellis International (JEI), and are prepared to offer our guests a safe and fun water park experience.”
The park’s re-opening will be celebrated by a Splash Party, taking place on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th September, sponsored by Billabong, Quiksilver and Roxy.
Guests will be able to enjoy DJ entertainment, games and prize giveaways, all free with their entry.
Ardent Leisure hopeful for the future
Ardent Leisure’s latest reporting shows a net loss of $86.9 million in the year to 30th June, compared to $136.1 million in 2019/20, as its theme parks, including Dreamworld and WhiteWater World on the Gold Coast, continued to be hit by border closures and lockdowns.
The group’s dropped 1.9% to $390.7 million.
Commenting on the results, Ardent Leisure Chairman Dr Gary Weiss said the theme park business continued to receive strong support from the local market despite visitor numbers being impacted by international and interstate border restrictions, particularly during peak trading period.
Dr Weiss advised “we are confident that Ardent is well positioned for future growth once market conditions begin to improve.”
