read moreBrisbane-based AIS Water has broken ground on its third production facility as its business, which focusses on water disinfection technology via electrolysis for swimming pools and other industries, continues to expand.
With two production facilities already present at its headquarters in the Brisbane suburb of Tingalpa, the third factory will be the first dedicated Anode Production Facility in the Southern Hemisphere.
Anodes (an electrode which allows an electrical current to enter into a device) form an integral part of AIS’ inline chlorine generation via electrolysis process and form the ‘heart’ of each chlorinator.
Advising that the new facility will produce enough anodes and anode material to permit AIS Water to triple its production capacity, which in turn will satisfy AIS’ own growing demand and strengthen its position as a global supplier of anode material, AIS Water Chief Executive, Elena Gosse stated “since we could not find an anode supplier that could meet our exacting standards, we’ve been manufacturing our own anodes since 1998. We are now well known for producing superior quality, commercial grade anode material using high quality titanium.”
Gosse added said that with demand for AIS’ products growing at such a rapid pace, the company decided to expand its production capacity not only to satisfy its own needs, but to supply to other manufacturers and industries.
The new Anode Production Facility, which is expected to be operational by late 2021, will support as many as 140 construction jobs and offer 55 full-time skilled and unskilled jobs over the lifetime of the project.
Gosse went on to say “as the economy continues to recover from the effects of COVID-19 we’re proud to be creating jobs and enhancing the reputation of Australian manufacturing.
“Our new facility will be world-class and enable us to continue our leadership role in the swimming pool chlorinator industry as well as open the door to new industries and markets.”
Queensland company, JBS Building and Development is designing and building the facility.
