YMCA NSW locations impacted by ransomware attack

YMCA NSW locations impacted by ransomware attack
August 16, 2019

YMCA NSW has suffered a significant attack on its information technology systems with many of their locations across the NSW and ACT working without IT over the past week.

In an announcement, the community recreation organisation has advised "YMCA NSW is making progress bringing IT systems back online after a random ransomware attack."

The statement added "thank you for your understanding and support as we work through the IT issues. We appreciate the inconvenience this may be causing you."

The statement went on to reassure members that "at this stage there is no evidence to suggest that any private data on our systems has been breached."

While YMCA centres have remained open, users accessing centre websites have been met with a 'site unavailable' message.

In addition YMCA NSW has been uncontactable by email.

The statement concluded "we are pleased there has been minimal disruption to all our services. We are working hard to ensure all our systems are operational as quickly as possible.

"We will continue to provide you with updates as systems come back online."

As YMCA NSW systems come back online it is not known if the organisation has made a payment to the ransomware attackers.

With its email unavailable, the YMCA has offered the following number for support 02 9687 6233.
