read moreThe Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society (RA&HS) has advised that ticket prices for the 2023 Royal Adelaide Show are to rise sharply from last year.
Returning to Adelaide’s Wayville Showgrounds from 2nd to 10th September, examples of the price hike will see family tickets bought at the gate rise to $80 on weekdays, up $10 (a rise of more than 14%) and $90 at the weekends, also up by $10 (a 12% rise).
Commenting on the rise, RA&HS Chief Executive, Will Rayner told media "(tickets) they have gone up a little bit more but the Show is exactly the same as every other business.
"Our costs have gone up but we've done our best to keep the price rises to a minimum."
However, Rayner pointed to discounts available for online purchases and emphasised that preparations for the event are well advanced, noting “it's the second time that we have had a completely COVID-free event so it's back to normal, bigger and better.
“Every year, the Royal Show provides exceptional value for money to our attendees.
“We encourage people to purchase tickets ahead of time - time slots in high demand, such as evenings and weekends, are always at risk of selling out.”
Among entertainment at this year’s Show, popular children’s television character Bluey will make a debut along with live performances, interactive animal opportunities, local food tastings and a nightly firework display.
Rayner went on to say “the Show will bring together more than 4500 animals, 50 carnival rides, more than 330 commercial exhibitors and over 400 different showbags.
“It was incredible to witness attendance numbers return to pre-Covid levels in 2022 and we hope to see that number continue to grow this year.”
