read moreFollowing a one-year hiatus, the Sydney Family Show returns to the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park from 1st to 18th April in a new COVIDSafe format, assisting in protecting the health and well-being of visitors.
Event organisers will be adopting lessons learned from the successful Spring Family Fair that they organised in September last year, one of the first large-scale COVIDSafe outdoor events in Australia since the pandemic's outbreak.
The Sydney Family Show will run in competition to the Sydney Royal Easter Show being held 1st to 12th April at Sydney Olympic Park.
Event Director of the Sydney Family Show, Britt Osborne advises "this last year has been an interesting time for organisers, but we are proud that the Sydney Family Show is returning with a fantastic line-up of family favourite attractions and activities.
"One of the most noticeable changes is that there is now an entry fee to the Show, in compliance with NSW Health's COVID guidelines, which require a controlled and registered ticketing system for all events, which ultimately assists in contract tracing.
"That said, the Show still offers tremendous value for families, with a wide range of free attractions and activities on offer, plus two free hours of car parking in the Entertainment Quarter.
"We are constantly working with the latest NSW Government directions to optimise the safety of all patrons, exhibitors and staff, and we can't wait to see everyone return for an epic day of fun."
A raft of initiatives has been instigated throughout The Sydney Family Show to allow it to occur, including hand sanitation stations at all entry points and strategically positioned around the venue.
Physical distancing will be possible thanks to a well-spaced layout of attractions within the Entertainment Quarter, physically distanced queuing, streamlined entry and exit points, and COVID Marshalls on-site.
In good news for attendees, animal petting will be allowed, with handwashing facilities provided at appropriate locations within the venue, accompanied by signage reminding patrons of the importance of washing/sanitising their hands before and after all activities.
Surface cleaning will increase, while the unique barcode on admission tickets will allow for sign-in to the event to enable contact tracing.
The Sydney Family Show also recommends that all visitors download and activate the COVIDSafe smartphone app, while in the event of the Show's cancellation, a full refund policy will apply for all tickets pre-purchased online.
Outside of the COVIDSafe changes, the Show will continue to feature all of the favourite activities and attractions. Returning are all of the popular carnival games and rides, showbags, the animal nursery, the reptile show, stage performances, as well as special events such as the Variety Family Fun Day, the Rabbit Hopping Championships and Dogs in the Park.
New additions for 2021 include the Shimano Fishing Show, featuring $20,000 worth of giveaways throughout the event, and the Easter Basket Scramble, where children collect their basket and scramble the venue for chocolate eggs and toys.
