Technogym equipment selected for Hills Shire’s new Waves Fitness and Aquatic Centre
Hills Shire Council in western Sydney will enter into a five-year lease agreement with Technogym Australia Pty Ltd. to equip their new Waves Fitness and Aquatic Centre.
Scheduled to reopen in 2022, the state-of-the-art fitness and aquatic centre will boast a huge cardio area including bikes (also spin bikes), treadmills, cross trainers and climbmills. Also included in the gym layout will be dedicated training zones with pin and plate loaded strength equipment, a free weights area, a functional training zone with a modular frame rig and new guided program fitness training stations.
Once complete the new Waves will feature a FINA Standard Olympic sized 50 metre swimming pool with 10 lanes, a combined indoor 25 metre learn to swim pool and family leisure pool, swimming clubhouse, a large fitness centre and three multipurpose rooms for centre programs which will also be available to hire.
In addition to this, the facility will also include a 20 metre warm water program pool with spa, sauna and steam room facilities, a 25 metre outdoor pool, spectator seating, café, additional parking, water play structure and splash pad.
Hills Shire Mayor, Dr Michelle Byrne said she was pleased to see works progressing at the Baulkham Hills aquatic centre, which is undergoing a complete revitalisation.
Mayor Byrne notes “the improvements underway will truly transform leisure and fitness opportunities within The Hills and beyond.
“It’s exciting to see the Waves gym taking shape. The progress that has been made is absolutely phenomenal and I for one can’t wait for this brand new facility to open its doors to the community next year.”
The aquatic centre is moving closer to completion with the form of the outside pools now complete.
Work has also begun on creating two indoor pools. One of these will be a 25 metre heated pool for aqua exercise classes, lap swimming and learn to swim classes, while the other will be a free form lagoon style family leisure pool.
Mayor Byrne added “families will be excited to hear that the next stage of this project is to build the water play area with its soakers, sprayers and sprinklers. I know this will become a favourite place for our youngest residents to cool down and have fun.”
