Tasmanians asked for their opinion on new 2023-29 Active Ageing Strategy

Tasmanians asked for their opinion on new 2023-29 Active Ageing Strategy
January 25, 2022

The Tasmanian Government is asking Tasmanians for their opinion to help shape ageing in Tasmania and develop a new robust 2023-29 Tasmanian Active Ageing Strategy.

The state government’s vision is for all Tasmanians to stay active, healthy, resilient and connected to their community regardless of their age with the new ageing strategy aimed at realising this vision.

Peak advocate, Council of the Ageing Tasmania (COTA Tasmania), will facilitate state-wide consultations for a new Strategy, with support from and collaboration with the Tasmanian Government.

Tasmanian Minister for Community Services and Development, Jeremy Rockliff advises “people can contribute through a survey available online or in hard copy, as well as through online conversations and regional forums.

“I encourage all Tasmanians to have their say about what we can do to create cities, towns and communities that enable people to age actively.

“Research shows that liveable, age-friendly communities make for happier, healthier residents of every age and all life stages.

“We all have a role to play in ensuring that we build a community which values and supports the contributions of older Tasmanians, and facilitates a shared culture that celebrates diversity and refutes ageism.”
