read moreSwim schools are being encouraged to register for this year’s Learn2Swim Week held from 23rd September to 1st October - an initiative of Poolwerx and Kids Alive - and supported by major industry associations AUSTSWIM, the Australian Swim Schools Association, Swim Australia and World Wide Swim School.
Poolwerx and Kids Alive is calling on local swim schools across Australia to get involved in Learn2Swim Week – a national water safety campaign promoting the importance of swimming lessons for under fives..
A 2021 Poolwerx survey of 300 respondents showed 70% of Australian parents attesting that water safety education and swimming lessons were just as important as road safety, with 28% believing it to be even more significant.
Most surveyed parents stated they would pick swimming lessons if they only had to choose just one activity for their child to do.
Kids Alive founder and partner of Learn2Swim Week Laurie Lawrence notes “there’s no doubt that Australian parents have their child’s safety front of their mind at all times. That’s why we’re calling on local swim schools to take part in this nationwide campaign. We want water safety knowledge and confidence to be in tip top shape, so we can all enjoy the safest summer yet.”
“And for swim schools, it’s a great marketing initiative to recruit new clients – more than 10 % of parents who sign up to Learn2Swim Week sign up for regular lessons on the spot, and nearly half the parents state they’d consider ongoing swim lessons. It’s free to take part, all you need to do is register on the website.”
Poolwerx Chief Executive, Nic Brill advised “we started this program almost 10 years ago, and every year are extending the reach of swim schools participating, particularly in regional areas. The ultimate goal is always zero drownings in under-fives, and the only way to reach it is for more swim schools to get involved in this initiative.”
Brill said Poolwerx offered a multitude of support for participating businesses who get behind the initiative adding “we realise the effort it takes to participate so we want to make it as easy as possible for the swim schools.
“Every year, we offer a plethora of marketing, advertising and public relations support to those businesses who want to get involved and help them get the word out. We want every swim school, every swimming instructor, every early learning centre around the grounds to get on board and encourage parents to register.”
