Spotless to join the team at Dairy Farmers Stadium

Spotless to join the team at Dairy Farmers Stadium
February 2, 2010

Spotless have been appointed caterers at Townsville's Dairy Farmers Stadium until 2013.

Following a competitive tender process the company have been appointed to provide services for all events including Cowboys and North Queensland Fury matches, functions, conferences and any other events held at the venue.

Spotless has had a presence in Townsville dating back to the 1970s when Nationwide Food Services commenced operations at the Townsville Teachers College.

The company currently provides catering services for the Townsville 400 V8 Supercar race, have operated at Townsville Airport since 1999 and provide services through Alliance Catering at seven other contracts across the Townsville region.

Spotless will have six full time employees at the stadium and utilise the services of up to 350 locals per event depending on crowd size.

Speaking of the contract, Dairy Farmers Stadium Manager, Todd Harris, said “Stadiums Queensland goes to tender on a regular basis for all manner of contracts across its eight venues. These range from catering and security to ticketing and waste management.

“The tender process ensures all businesses have the opportunity to tender their services based on a variety of criteria. It provides the opportunity to achieve competitive pricing for goods and services provided across the stadia.

“The best outcome for patrons is value for money and quality of service.”

Spotless Queensland’s Operations Manager, Jim Greene, said “We’re no strangers to Townsville, we’ve been providing services for more than three decades (in North Queensland) and currently employ upwards of 60 Townsville people on a full time basis.

“We’re specialists in catering to the patrons of major sports venues and are excited that Dairy Farmers Stadium will join the other venues we cater at including the MCG, Suncorp Stadium and Westpac Stadium in Wellington.

“Not only do we employ many locals but we source the majority of our produce from local suppliers around Townsville and North Queensland."

Greene said Spotless will offer community groups an opportunity to continue their involvement with stadium activities and support their efforts to raise funds for their particular individual organisations.

“We successfully worked with some of these groups during the Townsville V8s and will look to build on this relationship. Spotless are looking forward to meeting with the community groups to get a better understanding of what assistance we can provide,” he added.

Greene said Spotless will be advertising for additional staff in the near future. Casual catering staff who currently work at the venue are very welcome to apply.

“Contact details will be available in the coming weeks with advertisements to be placed in the Townsville Bulletin and online.”

Spotless will begin at Dairy Farmers Stadium prior to the first game of the 2010 NRL season.
