Sports Commission’s Our Sporting Future conference returns to Gold Coast

Sports Commission’s Our Sporting Future conference returns to Gold Coast
October 5, 2017

The Australian Sports Commission’s biennial Our Sporting Future will be returning to the Gold Coast next month.

Being held from 15th to 17th November at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, OSF17 is expected to attract sports administrators to examine the issues, challenges and opportunities facing Australian sport.

In presenting Our Sporting Future (OSF17), the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is again partnering with the Committee of Australian Sport and Recreation Officials (CASRO), the former om the Standing Committee on Recreation and Sport, with the backing of event partners Tourism and Events Queensland and Gold Coast Business Events.

Introducing the event, ASC Chief Executive Kate Palmer stated “this year’s event ... promises to be engaging and entertaining will look at the emerging opportunities, current trends and innovations impacting sport.

“The conference will bring together leaders and influencers from sport and related sectors to discuss Australia’s sporting future and will provide attendees with an opportunity to hear world-class speakers share their experiences and provide practical advice to grow your sport.

“The pre-conference workshop sessions are set to inform and educate on emerging issues that are vital to the sector and will provide case studies and practical examples you can take advantage of for your organisation.

“Another key aspect of this conference is its ability to create and foster relationships for sport professionals with industry leaders and peers.”

With Palmer instigating an internal review of ASC activities, low key promotion of OSF17 would appear to indicate that it may well scale back the event in future years.

The review of ASC core reportedly also applies to its Clearinghouse for Sport resource, given private sector competitors Austadiums and Sport Business Insider have dramatically scalled back content in recent months.
