read moreSanad Capital’s much delayed plans to develop a waterpark and resort complex on the Sunshine Coast are set to move forward after approval of its construction plans.
Sunshine Coast Council has approved a development permit for operational work at Lot 2 of 2562 Steve Irwin Way, paving the way for the creation of a series of apartments and the ACTVENTURE waterpark. and 23 luxurious apartments that are set to overlook a PerfectSwell Surf Pool.
Welcoming the approval, Sanad Capital Managing Director, Brad Sutherland advised “we are elated to announce this significant milestone in our journey towards creating a world-class entertainment hub.
“The approved engineering and operational works for Lot 2 epitomise our commitment to innovation, excellence and providing a complete destination, with unparalleled experiences for our visitors.
“We are excited to introduce a unique blend of premium and exhilarating attractions, redefining the concept of lifestyle entertainment.”
The development permit for operational work covers roadworks, landscaping, stormwater and earthworks and, unless extended, has a currency period of two years.
It is subject to conditions, which include a management plan incorporating traffic control and communication with the public.
As reported by the Sunshine Coast News, it also requires a landscape plan that improves future sustainability, and a construction plan that minimises impacts on the surrounding environment.
Other conditions are related to erosion and sediment control, work hours, air emissions and waste disposal.
Promoted as being set to “redefine entertainment standards” on the Sunshine Coast, ACTVENTURE’s surf pool is expected to use American Wave Machine’s patented surf pool technology to create a variety of waves that replicate point break, beach break and reef break surf.
The entire project, over 25 hectare, is expected to cost $350 million.
The current schedule for the development anticipates that the complex in stages during 2025/26.
