Revamped Pirate Park playground at Palm Beach Parklands showcases new inclusive play area
July 11, 2022

Following a five month upgrade, the revamped Pirate Park playground at Palm Beach Parklands on the Gold Coast now showcases a new pirate ship and increased play area for children of all ages to enjoy.

One of the Gold Coast’s signature playgrounds underwent a $1.4 million upgrade, and now offers new play equipment while maintaining the pirate ship theme for a unique play experience.

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate advised “after 12 years of popular use, it was time to upgrade the Pirate Park Playground and I know the improved park will continue to be loved by many.

“We incorporated feedback and ideas from the community including local primary school students, to deliver a park for the people.

“This city is built on its lifestyle attributes and that includes attractions for kids to enjoy. This is another space helping shape our authentic Gold Coast experience.”

Key features of the five-month upgrade include:

  • increased capacity for play
  • new pirate ship play structure with:
  • climbing nets and walls
  • suspension bridge
  • telescopes, cannons, interactive panels
  • imaginary play elements
  • 7-metre-high crow’s nest towers
  • 8-metre-long tunnel slide
  • swings
  • flying fox
  • spinning globe
  • large basket swing
  • row boats with talk tubes
  • caves
  • hammock
  • sensory play elements
