read moreQuayclean Australia has been appointed by the University of Tasmania (UTAS) to manage cleaning, hygiene, and waste management at all campus sites across the state. The appointment will advance UTAS’ status as a world leader in tertiary sector climate action.
UTAS is Australia’s fourth oldest university and is home to almost 35,000 students and staff.
For the third consecutive year, UTAS has been ranked number one globally for climate action by the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, solidifying its position as a world leader in tertiary sector climate action.
The Impact Rankings assess universities based on their performance against the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with UTAS excelling in SDG #13: Climate Action.
Quayclean, an Australian-owned company, is an enthusiastic supporter of all 17 SDG’s and has pledged a company-wide commitment to six of the Goals.
Quayclean Chief Executive, Mark Piwkowski, said sustainability advancements are embedded into the company’s DNA and will be enthusiastically applied across all UTAS campus sites.
Piwkowski noted “we aim to deliver new levels of campus presentation, waste management and resource recovery to support UTAS becoming the world’s most sustainable university.
“We see the provision of a clean, hygienic and safe working environment for students and staff is fundamental to creating an environment that supports day-to-day learning and research.
“The alignment of UTAS’ commitment to environmental, economic, and social sustainability, together with Quayclean’s determination be a carbon neutral business, defines the shared boundaries of our working ambitions as we collectively want to make our home, and the world, a better place.
“Our fresh perspective and expertise in sustainable cleaning, waste management, and resource conservation will support UTAS' environmental goals and drive continuous year-on-year improvements.”
Quayclean currently has agreements with the University of Queensland, tertiary education colleges such as the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) in Adelaide, including all their PC2 and MITRU labs, and the William Angliss Institute in Melbourne plus over 80 private colleges.
