read moreQuayclean Australia has been awarded the cleaning services contract for the Melbourne and Olympic Parks (M&OP) precinct.
Set across 40 hectares, M&OP encompasses six international venues: the Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena, John Cain Arena, AAMI Park, Kia Arena, and CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park - and is home to 10 national sporting teams: Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City (A-League), Melbourne Storm (NRL), Melbourne Rebels (Super Rugby), Melbourne United and South-East Melbourne Phoenix (National Basketball League), Melbourne Vixens and Collingwood Magpies (Super Netball) and Melbourne Football Club and Collingwood Football Club (AFL).
Overall it hosts around 600 events each year attracting up to 2.5 million attendees.
Most notably, M&OP hosts the annual Australian Open tennis championship, the first of the world’s four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, plus an array of diverse entertainment spectacles ranging from live music and comedy, to fashion shows and family events.
Advising that said the company was proud to have been chosen as an M&OP partner and looks forward to a smooth and seamless transition, Quayclean Chief Executive, Mark Piwkowski stated “we are immensely grateful that M&OP has chosen Quayclean to join their team and work in partnership with all stakeholders to contribute to an exciting experience for all patrons.
“We are well experienced to quickly mobilise our teams to service this large multi-purpose precinct and are thrilled our teams are set, complete with new eco-friendly equipment, to commence work.”
Piwkowski said part of Quayclean’s solution is to support the precinct reduction in waste volumes and achieve high levels of recycling which contribute to carbon reduction, noting “our Sustainability team will be working closely with M&OP management and other site partners to enhance recycling rates and reduce landfill diversion.”
Piwkowski went on to say that Quayclean will focus on workforce diversity and incorporate a social procurement strategy which ensures that the workforce and supply chain are representative of our community.
With over 600 full time, permanent part time and casual staff to be employed and trained on the precinct, Piwkowski said their work will contribute to patron experience, going on to say “there will be great opportunities for career development and advancement for existing staff as we will require a variety of working teams to manage such a diverse site.”
