read moreMake Music Day is a free celebration of music-making around the world on 21st June and for the second consecutive year, Penrith City Council will join the celebrations with two pop-up music performances on Sunday 20th June 2021.
Local Penrith artist, Brett Sams, will perform from 9am to 12pm at Coachmans Park, St Marys and indie fusion duo, Blue Sherlock, will take to the stage at Triangle Park, Penrith from 12pm to 3pm.
Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, Make Music Day is now held on the same day in more than 750 cities in 120 countries.
Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music Day is open to anyone who wants to take part. It’s a DIY Music Festival. All musicians, young and old, amateur and professional and of every musical persuasion can organise their own event, or join the many organisations that will host events, to share their music with friends, neighbours, and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public.
Penrith Mayor Karen McKeown said Council is proud to be taking part in the worldwide event and providing a platform for artists to perform and share their music.
“I encourage everyone to head along to our free pop-up performances on Sunday 20th June to show your support for our local performers and celebrate together on Make Music Day.”
